Blog Production #7

Not to much work was completed this weekend, but I followed the advice I was given last week and worked on the rough animation I had started last week. I wanted to focus on the highly animated scenes first, because I want the animation to shine in the ending scenes. Towards the beginning, the animation will be more mixed with other editing techniques like digital zooms, transitions and so on. I want it to sort of build up to the animation in a way.

The last half of the film, I want to feel fast, exciting and tense. I want it to build up to the final reveal of the kiss. I’ve decided for the kiss I would like Kevin to run up, stab his axe into the wall behind Canterbury before grabbing and kissing him. The zoom upwards at the end would be where his axe blade is.

Personally, I think I’m subconsciously freaking myself out for this film as well. Last semester, as I was doing my other film, I felt so far behind. Though, now I’m at the same stage, but with a lot more time. I’m trying to keep a healthy balance between working and taking breaks, but when life gets in the way, or other classes, it throws me off a bit. Over the long weekend, I spent roughly ten hours working, and yet I’m beating myself up over the lack of work I did.

Why am I writing about that stuff? Because! I want everyone to see the mental and physical journey I’ve been on with this project. I also want everyone else to know that it’s okay to not be ‘okay’ all the time. I’m trying to better myself and my work and I can’t start if I don’t know where or what my issues are.
